30 Day Song Challenge: Day 18

A song you wished you heard on the radio.

I don't think I hear this song on the radio (like I said I listen to oldies and classical when the radio is on) but I love it. I would love to hear it on the radio; and after watching this performance I am REALLY excited to see them this summer at the twilight concert series. They look like total hippies. AWESOME.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 17

A song you often hear on the radio:

I am really not much of a radio listener, and when I do listen to the radio my top two stations are oldies and classical so I guess if I was being completely honest I would have to say that I hear Mrs. Robinson a lot. But when I do flip to different "age appropriate" (whatever) channels I like when I hear this song. I like it a lot. Adele is on fire these days.
Thank you Adele for making popular music that is actually musical and fantastic.

Hairography

So I have now logged almost 28 hours of work this weekend, and I think I may have lost my mind around hour 20. Which means I find things much more entertaining and cool than usual. Also I stumble  a lot. Today I found this cool Hairography on some random girl's blog and I thought it was really cool. So I thought I would create my own, by taking a look at my past hair styles.  Also I have learned I make a lot of funny faces.
Top Row:
1. London Hair- Very strait, long and my natural color. I loved how long my hair was!
2. Senior Year- I got a perm right before I started my senior year and played around with dark colors the first half of the year. This is probably the best my hair has ever looked. It actually held curl.Neat.
3. I started going lighter towards the end of the year. I loved this color.
4. Favorite Coloring. I loved the chunks of blonde. Loved it.
5. Shortly after starting at BYU I went back to the dark, and it started to loose it's desire to curl again.
Row 2:
1. This is basically what my hair looked like my entire freshman year.
2. As summer came, I was back at the pool getting tan and my hair naturally got much lighter.
3. Itching for a change, whipsy bangs are always the answer.
4. Fall darkens my hair and I went for more blunt bangs
5. The BIG change. After years of debating it I finally chopped off my hair into a lovely a-line bob. It was so invigorating.
Row Three:
1. The long Italian bob. I loved everything about being in italy, even my hair, it was the perfect cut to be living over seas. Easy to do, fun to wear.
2. After I got home from Italy I thought it would be a good Idea to cut it all one length, the shortest. Probably the only cut I regret. But It was cute once it grew out a bit like here.
3. I mostly put this in because it is funny to me. But hair is growing, and I began growing out my bangs.
4. The LONG growth process.
5. Full side bangs. I love these almost as much as my now bangs. I think the fuller the bangs on me the better.
Row Four:
1. As I grow out I play with color more because I need change. This was a deep redish purple that was really fun.
2. The Bangs finally grew out. This was the first time since I was about 14 that I hadn't had some sort of bang. It was fun. But only for a while.
3. Dark. Again. This is my Favorite color (not including the chunks of course).
4. If you can not tell by the look in my eyes in this picture I was not happy with this hair. I like long but I needed a little something to give it some pow: like this:
5. Best. Bangs. Ever. I love these bangs. Full, real bangs. I think it helps hide my large forehead, or maybe frames my long face, but I love love love this cut. So I am keeping it for awhile.

Best. Idea. Ever.

i. love. smores.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 16

A song you used to love but now hate.

I don't know that I hate this song, but I am definitely sick of it. I think I might have had it on my iPod multiple times because I swear it would come on twice as much as the rest of my music. It is still a good song but I need a break from it.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 15

A song that describes you.

This one was hard for me. I don't feel like I have been classified in any one song. So I am kind of cheating on this one. The song I "picked" is I'll Follow the Sun by The Beatles because 1) I like the sun and summer and warmth 2) I am very optimistic; sometimes to an unrealistic point, or so I have been told. I like to see the good in things, so for me there is always a way to see the Sunlight!
But I am not completely satisfied with this being the song that describes me because I also like to Sing in the Rain, and Dance Through Life. I Believe in a Thing Called Love. I can be tough and Bulletproof when I need to, and I am very competitive much like a Shark in the Water, and sometimes I feel like I am On My Own. But in general I am just a girl who will follow the sun.

Pirate for a Night

One of the best parts of summer is how many fun movies come out, and that means Midnight movies. I love going to the opening night of a movie. The energy is completely different in the theater. Derek also loves going to midnight movies. We usually go together. Even when we have school/work the next day. WHY NOT? Last week we went to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

What a great excuse to dress up as Pirates.

Other movies I am looking forward to this summer:
X-Men: First Class
Green Lantern
Transformers: Dark of the Moon
Captain America
Cars 2
and of course Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 14

A song that no one would expect you to love:

Well I am not really a fan of country music, at all. But there are a few songs that have a place in my heart. This one brings back high school memories of fun, and it is also just really funny to me.

Goodbye Earl - Dixie Chicks

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 13

A song that is a guilty pleasure:

I am oddly in love with this song, and the music video, which is why it makes the guilty pleasure list. It is kinda odd and creepy. But I love it. I can't stop loving it.
Maybe it stems from this deep dark feeling I have that I am an alien.
Just maybe?

E.T. - Katy Perry

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 12

A Song from a band that you hate:

Baby- Justin Beiber

I definitely do not have the Bieber fever. Unless you are talking about the sick feeling you get when you have a fever. Then maybe I do have it because I feel ill every time I hear his songs.
You can test this theory out yourself.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 11

30A song from your favorite band.

I go through favorites faster than the roadrunner can outrun the coyote. But these Fab Four will always be my all-time favorites! John, Paul, George and Ringo changed the world of music!
I go through different favorites from them but currently this is my most played:

Blackbird- The Beatles

5.23.2011

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 10

Today's song is A song that makes you fall asleep.

I can pretty much fall asleep to anything, so I guess I could have put anything here, but when I need something relaxing and soft I turn to Enya.
This is one of my favorite Enya songs

A Day Without Rain- Enya

5.22.2011

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 9

A Song that you can dance to.

This was the song I rang in 2011 with, because it is the best song to dance to.

Dog Days are Over - Florence + The Machine

I had never seen this video before but I think it is great in all of its strangeness, and the way she dances in her fur vest thing is how I dance (ok, attempt to dance) when this song comes on!

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 8

A song you know every word to.
Easy.
I have only watched this movie a billion times and listened to the soundtrack 2 billion times.
Not only do I know all of the words to this song, but I think I know all of the words to the movie as well.
It is amazing. Ewan+Music+Paris. What more do you need?
I sang this song over and over again to pass time during the winter months of BORING indoor lifeguarding.
Have you figured out what it is?

Elephant Love Medley from Moulin Rouge.

This is not the version in the film if you want you can find that here, but I thought this one was so fun I had to post it instead!

5.20.2011

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 7

A song that reminds you of a certain event.

Today I chose Ramalama Bang Bang, First because I LOVE this song. It is so fun. Second because it immediatly reminds me of all things Halloween, the best time of the year! This past Halloween I could not stop listening to it. It helps that when I hear this song I picture this awesome dance. I want to be them.

Ramalama Bang Bang- Roisin Murphy

I think this one is the first time they did it. The video quality is not as good, but I like the costuming a little better!

The time the ceiling could have come down

The story of what happened to me on the night of May 18, 2011

There I was sitting on my bed, working on some homework for my Folklore class. Minding my own business when the fire alarm on my ceiling made a short and surprisingly loud beep which made me jump up, and skip a heartbeat, (fire alarms are so alarming!)  It was only one beep so I didn't think much of it. Maybe it was dust or something right? Right... about 7 or so minutes later the alarm went off this time for real, LOUD, abnoxious beeping. I thought it could possible be the battery, so I climbed up on a chair and started to inspect the situation. As I was doing this the two adjacent alarms (the one in Caity's room and in the hall)  joined in the fun. So there I was standing on a stool 3 fire alarms blaring, trying to figure out how to make the madness stop.  I took the battery out and guess what, apparently you don't even need a battery for a fire alarm to work. It does it all on it's own. The next idea was to try and disconnect the fire alarm, well that was unsuccessful as well, I couldn't figure it out, and was afraid of breaking it. I decided the only thing I could do was try and replace the battery and hope that would be the magical cure to this loud predicament. . Of course I didn't have any 9 volt batteries.Who has those lying around?
I slipped shoes on and ran out to the parking lot. I could still hear the alarms as I was getting into my car.  I didn't know if it was just ringing in my ears or if they were really that loud. They were that loud. I ran in to Caity in the parking lot and warned her of the impending danger. She decided to wait in the parking lot until I returned. She was smart.  I came back with batteries in hand thinking that this would be a simple fix. Again I was wrong.  The new battery was in place but the beeping was still going strong. As I was jumping off the stool a drop of water hit my arm. I looked up and to my surprise there was a bubble about the size of my palm in my ceiling, dripping water.
I had no idea what to do from this point. There was water coming into my room. Now before I get carried away and you start picturing a rainstorm in my room I should be clear that the leak was not that bad, but it was still a leak. A LEAK.  So I went up stairs to the apartment above us to see if there was anything up there to cause the leak. Lucky for me my cousin live in the room above me and she was happy to help. There was no sign of  water problems in her apartment so Caity, Cat and I all decided to call our parents to get some wisdom from the mouth of the oh so wise.
Caity performed a miracle and was able to disconnect the alarms, so we could finally get start to regain our ability to hear, and Cat drained the bubble so the paint wouldn't come up and we planned on calling someone to look at it the next day. There I was left in my room with a pot to catch the drip and the mystery of how this all happened. This is when my overactive imagination kicked in. I have this fear of a roof caving in on top of me. I have imagined it coming from an earthquake, a fire, and now in my mind I had this leak spreading across the ceiling and collapsing on top of my while I slept. I knew right then and there I would not sleep well in a room that now had the potential to fall on top of me. (Even though multiple people assured me it wouldn't happen. What do they know?) Luckily my grandparents were happy to host an impromptu sleepover, and they only made fun of me a little bit!  As I was packing up some stuff to take over there, feeling a little silly,  I found a second dripper. He was hiding from me on the other side of my room. That instant I knew that by leaving I was probably saving my life.

*My apartment didn't collapse and when I checked on the leak the next day it was almost completely dried up, but hey you never know right. I at least saved myself from a nightmare or two!

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 6

Todays challenge?
A song that reminds you of somewhere.

I could have chosen hundreds of different songs because I associate a lot of song with different places. This was the first one I thought of though. This song reminds me of the latest time I was in London. I had just finished my Study Abroad in Italy and had been slightly disconnected with the world of music. (they did play Madonna's and Justins 4 Minutes over and over in Italy though.) So when I got to London the first thing I did was go to my favorite radio station. This song came on and first my Dad got super excited because he loved the song, and it just instantly fit into my life. Songs do that a lot to me. So here it is, The song that reminds me of my summer in Europe:

Viva La Vida - Coldplay

Enjoy.

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 5

Day 5:
A song that reminds you of someone:
I was having a hard time thinking of a song for this one, so I decided to put itunes on shuffle and go with the first song that reminded me of someone. Then this song came on and I started laughing because Yes indeed this reminds me of someone. Dylan. When he was in 3rd (ish) grade he had a crush on a girl named Brittney. This song was popular at that time and we would sing "Brittney Brittney say that you love me." I probably think of that every time I hear this song.
So here you go Dyl, This one is for you.

Love fool-- The Cardigans

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 4

Day 4:
A song that makes you sad.

This one was a tad harder. I don't have a ton of sad music in my collection. I don't really like things that make me sad. I try and avoid sadness. But if there was a song that was going to make me sad This would probably work. It is pretty sad.
and yes, I do know this song from Twilight. hehe.
Enjoy.
Don't cry.

5.16.2011

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 3

Day 3:
A Song that makes you happy:

There are lots of songs that make me happy. Give me a fun beat and a cheerful chorus and I am hooked. I decided to go with a song that not only has a great beat that you can't help but dance to, but it is also from one of my favorites bands these days!

In The Sun-- She & Him

Aren't they the best?

5.15.2011

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 2

Song Challenge Day 2:
Least Favorite Song-
There are very few songs that I hear and it just makes me cringe. This happens to one of them.
I think it is the combination of being an annoying annoying song and hearing it over and over and over again one summer working at the pool...

Green Day- Wake Me Up When September Ends.

and no, I am not going to attach a video with this because I do not want to make any of you suffer through that song.

5.14.2011

30 day Song Challenge- Day 1

So I very rarely do things like this, but sometimes trendy things do suck me in, I am sorry. I am human after all. I decided to give in and do this blog/tumblr challenge thing because 1. I have some free time on my hands these days. 2. I have been looking for something to blog about. 3. I like music. 4. I looked fun! I like fun.

So here goes the first of my 30 Days of songs. *Discloser, I may have adapted the list slightly because I had a hard time choosing songs.

Day 1: Favorite song: I don't have an All-Time Fav, so I decided to do my favorite today.

Noah and the Whale- Waiting for my Chance to Come
This song was an instant favorite as soon as I got their new album. It is catchy and fun and just fits perfectly into my life right now. I love it when songs wiggle their way into my life like this one has.

Running in the Rain.

Today I went running in the rain, listening to Wicked.
It made me want to move be here.
Eating this.

And doing funny things like this.
See this.
And party here.
Also I plan on finding a man to marry. He will do just fine!

and then we will live happily ever after.
